Dr. Charissa Che serves as an Assistant Professor in the English Department at John Jay College of Criminal Justice (CUNY), specializing in translingual and cultural rhetorics. She holds a PhD from the University of Utah's Writing and Rhetoric program, alongside MA and BA degrees from CUNY and Pace University.
Her research focuses on equitable writing pedagogies, multilingual student identities, and Asian American experiences in higher education. Key projects include critiques of ESL labeling practices, community partnerships in writing programs, and heritage language student empowerment. She has published in Teaching English in the Two-Year College, Journal of Basic Writing, and interdisciplinary engineering journals.
