University of Maineمعرفی
Charilaos (Harry) Filippakis is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biomedical Sciences at the University of New England's College of Osteopathic Medicine. His research focuses on macropinocytosis, lysosomal metabolism, and autophagy in mTORC1-hyperactive cells. He has held postdoctoral positions at Brigham & Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School, and Tufts Medical Center, Boston.
Education includes a Ph.D. from the University of Crete (2011), M.Sc. from University of Crete (Greece), and B.Sc. in Genetics from the University of Aberdeen (Scotland).
His work integrates metabolomic, proteomic, and transcriptomic approaches with in vivo models to study Tuberous Sclerosis Complex (TSC) and Lymphangioleiomyomatosis (LAM). He has been funded by The LAM Foundation and the Department of Defense Kidney Cancer Research Program.
Research interests span metabolic reprogramming, cancer metabolism, and therapeutic targeting of cellular pathways. His lab develops methods for quantifying macropinocytosis using flow cytometry and explores phospholipid reprogramming in disease models.
