Charalambos Michaeloudes

Charalambos Michaeloudes is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Cyprus, affiliated with the School of Medicine. His academic career includes roles as an Honorary Research Fellow at Imperial College London (2019–present) and a European Respiratory Society Long-Term Fellow (2019–2021). He holds a PhD in Clinical Medicine from Imperial College London (2009), an MSc in Molecular Life Sciences (2005), and a BSc in Medical Biochemistry (2003), all from King’s College London.

His research focuses on mitochondrial dysfunction, oxidative stress, and metabolic reprogramming in respiratory diseases such as COPD and asthma. Notable projects include investigating mesenchymal stem cell-mediated mitochondrial transfer and mechanisms of airway inflammation. He has secured grants as Principal Investigator and Co-Investigator in studies funded by the European Respiratory Society, British Heart Foundation, and Hong Kong-Shenzhen Hospital.

Dr. Michaeloudes has been recognized with multiple awards, including ERS Travel Bursaries (2020, 2015), a BLF Travel Fellowship (2012), and an Asthma UK Travel Award (2010). He serves on editorial advisory boards for Biomolecules and the European Respiratory Society College of Experts, contributing to manuscript reviews and special issue curation.

His work bridges basic science and clinical applications, emphasizing translational strategies for COPD and asthma therapies. He collaborates internationally, including roles as a Scientific Advisor for the Hong Kong-Shenzhen Hospital project and co-supervision of multiple PhD students.
