Char-lee McLennan

Char-lee McLennan is Associate Professor in the School of Management at Queensland University of Technology, where she co-leads the Social Systems Domain at the Centre for Data Science. She holds a PhD in Tourism Economics from the University of Queensland and specializes in regional economic transformation, strategic policy, and sustainability adoption.

Her research spans three primary streams: 1) Regional economic development and transformation, 2) Strategic policy and planning, and 3) Adoption of sustainability practices. McLennan was recognized with the Emerald/EFMD Outstanding Doctoral Research Award, UQ Dean's Award for Research Excellence, and Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Research Best Paper Award.

Recent research focuses on mega-event economics, sustainability governance, and tourism-climate change interactions, with publications examining Brisbane Olympics planning, water sustainability frameworks, and community-centered tourism development.
