Chapurukha M. Kusimba is a Professor in the Department of Anthropology at the University of South Florida. His academic work focuses on African archaeology, Indian Ocean trade networks, and heritage studies.

Kusimba teaches courses on African cultures, precolonial urbanism, archaeological theories, the archaeology of inequality, slavery, and museum methods. His research spans global prehistory, Islamic archaeology, and trade systems.
He advises graduate student Francesca Ibarra.
