Chao Zhang

Dr. Chao Zhang is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Chemistry and Physics and a Research Officer at the Central Analytical Research Facility (CARF) at Queensland University of Technology. He holds a Bachelor's in Optoelectronics, a Master's in Applied Physics, and a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Tsukuba. His research focuses on nanoscale material properties using in situ TEM, with applications in energy materials (e.g., photodetectors, solar cells, batteries) and optoelectronics. Dr. Zhang also coordinates courses in Optics and Quantum Physics.

His research interests include nanomanipulation, optoelectronic analysis, and the interplay between material mechanisms and real-world applications. Key projects involve developing high-performance photocapacitors and MXene-based battery materials.
