Chao-Ju Chen is a Professor at National Taiwan University College of Law and Director of the Center for Human Rights and Jurisprudence. She served as Hauser Global Professor at New York University School of Law in 2022. She holds an S.J.D. and LL.M. from the University of Michigan Law School, and LL.B. and LL.M. degrees from National Taiwan University.
Her research examines intersections of equality, feminism, legal history, and legal mobilization, focusing on:
- Transformations of male dominance and feminist legal reform myths
- Legal Orientalism and feminist legal mobilization dynamics
- Marital supremacy consolidation through analysis of choice, consent, and inequality
- Intersectional discrimination against single people and single equality
Her publications demonstrate consistent focus on feminist legal theory, marriage equality critiques, intersectional discrimination, and socio-legal analysis of family systems. Recent works highlight emerging themes of singlehood rights, indigenous identity, and postcolonial legal frameworks.
