Dr. Chantelle Niblock is a Lecturer in the School of Natural and Built Environment at Queen’s University Belfast (QUB), specializing in Sustainable Built Environment. Previously, she held a Lecturer position at the University of Nottingham (2010-2018) where she directed the MArch Digital Architecture and Tectonics course. She completed her PhD at the Glasgow School of Art, investigating digital media impacts on architectural design processes.
Her research focuses on integrating emerging technologies into architectural education and heritage preservation, collaborating with institutions like the Whitney Museum of American Art and National Museums NI. She currently supervises four PhD students exploring digital heritage interpretation and immersive learning. Awards include the AHRC Doctoral Award (2008) and Queen’s Teaching Innovation Award.
Niblock leads curriculum development initiatives such as the Skills Bazaar program and Pathway to Opportunity widening participation scheme. Her work aligns with UN SDGs related to sustainable cities and education innovation. Recent projects include the ACCEPT plastics circular economy initiative (2018-2020) and turbine blade recycling research (2017-2022).
