Prof. Chantal Kemner is a Professor of Biological Developmental Psychology at Utrecht University's Faculty of Social and Behavioral Sciences, specializing in developmental psychopathology. She leads the YOUth cohort study and serves as scientific director of the Consortium Individual Development (CID), a top Dutch research group funded by a prestigious €28M NWO Gravitation grant (2012–2023). Her work focuses on understanding child development differences, particularly in the first 1001 days of life, autism, visual perception, and brain-behavior dynamics.
Education: PhD in Biological Psychology from Utrecht University (1992), followed by postdoctoral roles at UMC Utrecht's Child Psychiatry department. Previously held part-time professorships at Maastricht University (2003–2008) and UMC Utrecht (2013–2021).
Research Themes: Dynamics of Youth (DoY), data science in cohort studies, and longitudinal research methodologies. Key projects include the YOUth study and the CID's investigation into individual developmental differences.
