Chantal Berman is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Government at Georgetown University. She holds a PhD and MA in Comparative Politics from Princeton University, and a BA with Honors in International Relations from Brown University.
Her research examines political mobilization, protest movements, and authoritarian governance, with regional focus on North Africa and the Middle East. She investigates dynamics of state repression, revolutionary coalitions, and the role of digital networks in political movements.
Recent publications analyze protest patterns in Iraq and Morocco, authoritarian resilience during democratic transitions, and the organizational strategies of social movements. Her work contributes to understanding of state-society relations in hybrid regimes.
