Chandelle Rimmer serves as Associate Professor and Section Head of Voice in MacEwan University's Faculty of Fine Arts and Communications, Department of Music. She currently holds the administrative role of Interim Associate Vice-President, Student Experience and Development, having previously been Associate Dean, Student Engagement and Success. Her academic credentials include a Master of Music from Boston and a Bachelor of Music from Berklee College of Music.
Her research focuses on contemporary music voice pedagogy and performance psychology, specializing in jazz and contemporary popular music vocal techniques. As an internationally recognized educator and clinician, she develops methodologies for vocal freedom and technical expertise in improvisational settings, with particular emphasis on stage performance applications.
Her creative scholarship manifests in two major recordings: the collaborative compositional project Stillness Falls (2018) with pianist Tom Van Seters, and her debut album Perspect-ism (2012). These works demonstrate innovative approaches to vocal improvisation, original composition, and interpretive frameworks within contemporary jazz and popular music idioms.
As Section Head of Voice, Dr. Rimmer mentors vocal students through curriculum development and performance coaching. Her collaborative work with MacEwan faculty like Tom Van Seters exemplifies her commitment to interdisciplinary artistic creation and advancing jazz education within Canadian academic institutions.
