معرفی
Chad Finley is a Professor in Astroparticle Physics at the Department of Physics, Stockholm University. He holds key roles in the IceCube Collaboration at the South Pole and serves as deputy director of the Oskar Klein Centre for Cosmoparticle Physics since 2017.
His research centers on neutrino astronomy within astroparticle physics, utilizing high-energy neutrinos to investigate extreme cosmic environments like black hole regions where particle acceleration occurs. This work is foundational to multi-messenger astronomy, integrating neutrino data with gravitational waves and electromagnetic observations to expand cosmic understanding beyond traditional light-based astronomy.
Finley led IceCube's point-source analysis group from 2008 to 2018, contributing to the landmark 2013 discovery of the high-energy astrophysical neutrino flux (including PeV-scale neutrinos). Current research focuses on characterizing this flux and identifying its astrophysical sources. Through the Oskar Klein Centre, he fosters collaboration between particle physicists and astrophysicists from Stockholm University and KTH Royal Institute of Technology.
