Cesare Mattina

Cesare Mattina is a Lecturer in sociology at Aix-Marseille University, currently on CNRS delegation to the Triangle laboratory (Lyon) for the 2024-2025 academic year. His research focuses on urban and territorial sociology, particularly analyzing governance dynamics in industrial and high-risk territories, environmental issues, and denunciation of public dishonesty practices. He coordinates Franco-Italian research programs such as TEPRENCA (low-carbon energy production) and ANR POCK2 (corruption studies). Key projects include comparative studies on energy transitions and socio-historical analyses of urban corruption.

His work bridges urban governance, political ethics, and environmental policy, with notable publications exploring clientelism in Marseille, nuclear energy debates, and the socio-political dimensions of energy transitions. He has led seminars at Mesopolhis and collaborated internationally on energy and corruption research.
