Cedric Dicko serves as Associate Professor and Senior Lecturer in the Department of Pure and Applied Biochemistry at Lund University's Faculty of Engineering (LTH). He leads the Soft and Complex Biomaterials Group and contributes to Lund's Engineering Health and Food and Bio profile areas.
Research interests focus on structure-process-function relationships in biological macromolecules including silks, elastomeric proteins, and enzymes. His group employs optical spectroscopy, soft mechanics, and X-ray/neutron scattering to advance bio-inspired materials design. Key domains include soft biomaterials, biocatalysis, and polymeric materials with applications toward UN Sustainable Development Goals.
His publication trends (2024-2025) reveal strong emphasis on biomaterial therapeutics (atopic dermatitis hydrogels, cardiac stimulators) and advanced protein characterization (deep eutectic solvents, molecular imprinting). Work spans biomedical engineering, analytical chemistry, and phytochemistry with significant interdisciplinary collaboration.
Research leadership includes:
- Principal Investigator for Enhancing Catalytic Efficiency of Nanozymes (Swedish Research Council, 2025-2029)
- Co-PI for Relating antimicrobial peptides to membrane permeabilization (Interreg Oresund, 2024-2025)
- Active roles in Biomaterials@LU network and LINXS Institute neutron/x-ray science
He actively organizes academic initiatives including the Future Biomaterials conference series and Engineering Health Seminars, demonstrating leadership in Lund's biomaterials research ecosystem.
