Cecilia Rofena is an Associate Professor of Philosophy and Theory of Languages at the Department of Philosophy and Cultural Heritage, Ca' Foscari University of Venice. She teaches courses such as Philosophy of Language, Philosophy of Literature, Poetics, and Rhetoric. Her research focuses on the intersection of philosophy with literature and the arts, particularly Ludwig Wittgenstein's thought, aesthetics, and ethics. She holds a PhD in Philosophical Disciplines from the University of Pisa and has conducted postgraduate studies at the Collegio San Carlo Foundation in Modena and the University of Chicago.
Research areas include Wittgenstein's philosophy, the relationship between language and art, and contemporary Austro-German and American philosophy. She is involved in editorial roles for journals like Revue de synthèse and Giornale di filosofia. Her work explores themes such as artistic expression, language morphology, and the aesthetics of atmospheres.
Notable projects include the PRIN-funded 'Atmospheres: What They Are and How They Are Grasped' (2023–2025) and a 2014 project on Wittgenstein and artist Eduardo Paolozzi. She has authored books like Wittgenstein and Frazer's Error and poetry collections Agogiche and Mosaico.
