Cecilia Phillips Toro is a Neurobiologist affiliated with Sarah Lawrence College's Department of Biology. She holds a BA from Reed College, a PhD from Brown University, and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Oregon Hearing Research Center and Vollum Institute. Her research focuses on sensory hair-cell function, dopamine's role in zebrafish lateral line systems, and alternative splicing mechanisms in neurobiological contexts.
- Education: BA, Reed College; PhD, Brown University
- Postdoctoral Training: Oregon Health & Science University
Her work integrates molecular and cellular approaches to study ion channel physiology, synaptic transmission, and neuroendocrine control in zebrafish models. She has secured grants from the NIH and previously taught at Linfield College.
Publications span topics like GABA receptor alternative splicing and calcium channel regulation, reflecting her expertise in neurobiological mechanisms. She has been on leave for Spring 2025.
