Cecilia McGregor is a Professor in the Department of Horticulture at the University of Georgia. Her research focuses on cucurbit breeding, genetics, and genomics, particularly watermelon. She develops molecular tools to bridge basic genomic research and applied cultivar development.
Her work includes identifying QTL for seed, fruit, and disease resistance traits in watermelon, such as Fusarium wilt and Gummy Stem Blight, using genotyping-by-sequencing technology. She teaches courses like HORT 3620 Plant Propagation and HORT 4140/6140 Plant Breeding.
