Donglin Zhang is a Professor in the Department of Horticulture at the University of Georgia's College of Agricultural & Environmental Sciences. His research focuses on woody ornamental plant breeding, utilizing molecular technology and embryo culture to develop cultivars adapted to the Eastern US environment. He teaches courses in plant propagation and identification while leading the Institute of Plant Breeding, Genetics and Genomics (IPBGG) woody ornamental laboratory.

The UGA Woody Plant Laboratory under Dr. Zhang conducts plant exploration across China, Japan, and Korea, develops rapid breeding systems, and creates edible/functional landscape plants. His teaching philosophy emphasizes self-directed learning, with current courses including plant propagation, woody plant identification, and graduate-level problem-solving seminars.
