Dr. Cathy Schlund-Vials is Professor of English and Asian/Asian American Studies at the University of Connecticut, where she previously served as Director of the Asian and Asian American Studies Institute (2012-2018) and Associate Dean for Humanities and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Her research examines immigrant/refugee narratives, human rights literature, cultural studies, and U.S. imperialism.
She has authored and edited numerous books including 'War, Genocide, and Justice: Cambodian American Memory Work' and 'Modeling Citizenship: Jewish and Asian American Writing'. Recent edited collections focus on human rights, graphic narratives, and Asian American studies.
Awarded the 2017 CLAS Excellence in Research Award and 2016 Higher Education Award, Dr. Schlund-Vials served as President of the Association for Asian American Studies (2016-2018). Her current projects investigate militarization in Asian American literature and critical refugee studies.
