Christopher Vials is an Associate Professor in the Department of English at the University of Connecticut, where he also serves as Director of American Studies. His research examines antifascist traditions, racial politics, and working-class literature in American cultural history.
Vials' scholarship explores: 1) Historical and contemporary manifestations of fascism and antifascism in US culture; 2) Race radicalism in proletarian literature; and 3) Representations of political ideologies in American fiction. His methodological approach combines literary analysis with historical contextualization and political theory.
His publications analyze diverse texts including political discourse, novels, and cultural artifacts. Recent work examines the relationship between militarism and white nationalism. Vials regularly contributes to public discourse through media engagements and community initiatives focused on social justice education.
