Cathy Creighton is the Director of Cornell University ILR’s Buffalo Co-Lab, an Extension Associate Sr affiliated with the ILR School. She leads initiatives advancing an equitable economy through community-based research, teaching, and policy advocacy. Her work focuses on labor rights, public policy, and workforce development, collaborating with over 340 community partners through the Partnership for the Public Good.
Creighton holds a J.D. from Boston University School of Law and a B.S. from Cornell University ILR. Her research interests include equitable economic policies, labor law reform, and community-driven solutions to issues like wage equity, apprenticeships, and noncompete agreements.
She actively engages in civic roles as Ethics Officer for the United Auto Workers, member of the AFL-CIO Union Lawyers Alliance, and Director of the Erie County Fiscal Stability Authority. Her policy contributions include drafting living wage laws, minimum wage reforms, and community benefit ordinances.
Creighton oversees programs such as the Buffalo High Road Fellowship, Workplace Health & Safety initiatives, and a public data repository mapping socioeconomic indicators. She resides in Buffalo with her husband, and her daughters graduated from Cornell and McGill University.
