Shannon Marie Gleeson is the Edmund Ezra Day Professor at the Brooks School of Public Policy and Chair of Labor Relations, Law, and History at the Cornell University School of Industrial and Labor Relations (ILR). Her research focuses on immigration, labor rights, and racial inequality in low-wage workplaces, with a particular emphasis on policy implementation and transnational advocacy.

Her work examines the intersection of immigration policy, labor law, and social inequality, including studies on DACA implementation, coalition-building for migrant rights, and systemic racial disparities in labor protections. Gleeson’s research spans the U.S.-Mexico border, analyzing how advocacy organizations influence state governance and defend migrant rights. Her current project explores historical roots of racial injustice in New York City’s labor relations and immigration policy.
