Catherine W. Cahill, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, TX. She holds clinical and academic affiliations with the Baylor College of Medicine Medical Center (Clinic) and has expertise in hip and knee surgery, including joint reconstruction and preservation. Dr. Cahill completed her medical education at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MD, top of class), followed by orthopedic surgery residency at Baylor College of Medicine. She further specialized with fellowships in hip preservation at Inselspital (Switzerland) and adult reconstruction at New England Baptist Hospital (Boston).
Her research focuses on complex joint replacements, avascular necrosis, and minimally invasive techniques. Notable work includes a peer-reviewed study on bilateral knee arthroplasty in octogenarians presented at the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. She is actively involved in ongoing research at Baylor College of Medicine.
Dr. Cahill has received awards such as the Hugh Tullos Research Award and the J.H. and W.J. Houghton Award for her academic and clinical excellence. She is a member of professional organizations including the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons and Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. Beyond medicine, she engages in global health initiatives, leading annual mission trips to Guatemala and mentoring young women in orthopedic surgery through the Perry Initiative.
