معرفی
Catherine Searle is a Full Professor in the Department of Mathematics, Statistics, and Physics at Wichita State University. Her research focuses on differential geometry, particularly the study of manifolds and Alexandrov spaces with curvature constraints and symmetry properties. She holds a PhD from the University of Maryland (1992) under Karsten Grove and has held positions in Mexico, including at CINVESTAV and the National Autonomous University of Mexico. Key awards include membership in the Mexican Academy of Sciences (2010) and Mexico's National System of Researchers (since 1993). Her work bridges geometric analysis and topology, with notable contributions to curvature bounds, group actions, and manifold classification. Recent projects include studies on fixed-point sets of tori, geodesic lengths, and GKM manifolds.
Education: B.A. in Mathematics/Physics (Bryn Mawr College, 1984), PhD in Mathematics (University of Maryland, 1992). Research spans 30+ years with over 50 publications. Current grants include NSF support for curvature studies. She co-organizes conferences like 'New Frontiers in Curvature' (2024) and actively promotes women in geometry through initiatives like the Sonia Kovalevsky Day. Labs/teams include collaborations with topologists and geometric analysts globally.
