Karen Butt is a Dickson Instructor and NSF postdoc in Mathematics at the University of Chicago. She completed her PhD at the University of Michigan in 2023 under the supervision of Ralf Spatzier. Her research explores differential geometry and its generalizations, particularly spaces of non-positive curvature and their geodesic flows.
Butt's work connects geometric structures with dynamical systems, examining how curvature properties influence global geometric behavior. Her publications address fundamental problems in spectral geometry and Riemannian manifold analysis.
Her recent articles demonstrate sophisticated applications of geometric analysis to problems concerning entropy monotonicity, length spectrum control, and quantitative rigidity theorems.
