Catherine Searle is a Full Professor of Mathematics at Wichita State University, affiliated with the Department of Mathematics, Statistics, and Physics within the Fairmount College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. She obtained her PhD in Mathematics from the University of Maryland, College Park (1992), under the supervision of Karsten Grove. Her career includes research roles at CINVESTAV-IPN (Mexico City, 1992–1998), the Mathematics Institute of UNAM (Cuernavaca, 1996–2011), and visiting positions at Oregon State University (2012–2014). She joined Wichita State University in 2014 and was promoted to full professor in 2019.
Her research focuses on Differential Geometry, particularly comparison geometry, positively/non-negatively curved manifolds, and symmetries in geometric spaces. She explores isometric group actions on Riemannian manifolds and Alexandrov spaces, emphasizing curvature bounds and symmetry-driven geometric properties. Notable contributions include studies on fixed-point sets, cohomogeneity, and geometric flows.
