Catherine Robinson is a Professor of Social Care Research and Director of Social Care and Society at the University of Manchester. She leads the Personal Social Services Research Unit (PSSRU) and is affiliated with the Nursing & Midwifery department. Her research focuses on mental health, social care systems, and healthcare policy, with a particular emphasis on vulnerable populations such as older adults in prisons and individuals with dementia. She actively contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to health and well-being.
Dr. Robinson’s work spans qualitative and quantitative methodologies, including scoping reviews and feasibility studies. She has led major projects like the 'Empowered Together' trial on coordinated social care in prisons and the 'EquaDem' initiative addressing dementia care inequalities. She supervises postgraduate researchers including D. Wood and P. Ramesh.
Her publications highlight systemic challenges in healthcare delivery, such as burnout among social care workers during the pandemic and the mental health needs of incarcerated older adults.
