Catherine Perkins is a Clinical Professor in the Department of Counseling and Psychological Services at Georgia State University (GSU), where she also coordinates the School Psychology program. She serves as research faculty in the College of Education & Human Development’s Center for School Safety, School Climate and Classroom Management. Her expertise spans developmental neuropsychology, biopsychology, and the social-emotional development of youth, with a focus on preparing school psychologists to address societal diversity challenges.
With over 25 years of experience as a practicing school psychologist in Georgia, Perkins has held roles including paraprofessional, school psychologist, and administrator in public schools. She actively participates in professional organizations such as the American Psychological Association, National Association of School Psychologists (NASP), and Georgia Association of School Psychologists (GASP), where she served as president in 2010.
Her current affiliations include leadership in the Center for School Safety, emphasizing applied research to improve school environments. Perkins’ work bridges clinical practice, educational policy, and community engagement to advance child well-being and equitable educational access.
