Dr. Catherine Hayes serves as Chair of the Department of Oral Health Policy and Epidemiology and Associate Professor at Harvard School of Dental Medicine (HSDM), Harvard University. A former dental director of MassHealth (Massachusetts Medicaid/CHIP), she has held pivotal leadership roles including past president of the American Board of Dental Public Health and president of the American Association of Public Health Dentistry.
Her educational qualifications include:
- BS in Biology from Boston College
- DMD (magna cum laude) from Tufts University
- General Practice Residency at Brigham and Women's Hospital
- SM and DMSc in Epidemiology from Harvard University
- Dental Public Health Residency at Harvard University
Dr Hayes' research centers on systemic oral health disparities and inequities, employing epidemiological frameworks to develop policy interventions that improve access to care. Her work bridges clinical dentistry with population health strategies to address socioeconomic and racial disparities in oral health outcomes.
