Catherine Haigh is an Associate Professor and Deputy Director at Monash Rural Health: Latrobe Valley and West Gippsland. She serves as Year 4C Academic Coordinator and coordinates Patient Safety teaching (MED5102) for Year 5D at Traralgon. Her academic journey includes education at Trinity College Dublin, University of Strathclyde, and prior roles at Strathclyde University and King's College London before joining Monash in 2008.
Research focuses on clinical workplace learning, assessment methodologies, clinical reasoning development, and patient safety. She contributes to UN SDGs related to quality education and good health. Active in grant assessment as a Detailed Assessor for the Australian Research Council (2016–present).
- Teaching responsibilities include Health Enhancement (Year 3B) and Medicine of the Mind (Year 4C)
- Member of Latrobe Regional Hospital's Human Research Ethics Committee
Key projects include transforming rural medical training (2021) and technology-based rehabilitation for transport-limited patients (2012–2013). Peer-reviewed contributions span medical education journals and interdisciplinary collaborations.
