Catherine Goudie

Catherine Goudie, MD, FRCPC is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at McGill University's Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, and a Scientist at the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) at the Glen site. She is affiliated with the Child Health and Human Development Program and the Centre for Outcomes Research and Evaluation (CORE), where she serves as a Pediatric Hematologist-Oncologist within the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Hematology at the MUHC.

Dr. Goudie's research program centers on childhood cancer predisposition syndromes - genetic conditions that increase cancer risk throughout life. She has developed MIPOGG (McGill Interactive Pediatric OncoGenetic Guidelines), an eHealth decision-support tool containing 90 tumor-specific algorithms that use clinical, family history, and tumor features to determine genetic referral needs. Her work spans pediatric oncology, human genetics, eHealth implementation, health economics, and tumor surveillance protocols, with a particular focus on syndromes like Li-Fraumeni, DICER1, Constitutional Mismatch Repair Deficiency, and Gorlin syndrome. Recent publications demonstrate her leadership in genomic sequencing for pediatric cancer patients, TP53 variant classification, and cost-effectiveness analysis of genetic screening protocols.

Dr. Goudie collaborates with clinicians and scientists worldwide to advance understanding of how cancer predisposition syndromes impact children's lives. Her research program offers training positions for Masters candidates interested in pediatrics, oncology, human genetics, eHealth, health policy, and economics. The Goudie Lab focuses on developing strategies to help doctors rapidly identify cancer predisposition syndromes in young patients, with ongoing work examining genetic variants in pediatric diffuse midline glioma, therapy-related subsequent cancers, and late-onset tumors in various predisposition syndromes.
