Catherine ARSENEAULT

Catherine ARSENEAULT is a Professor at the School of Criminology, Faculty of Arts and Sciences, University of Montreal. Her research focuses on drug-crime links, criminal trajectories, and desistance processes among justice-involved youth and adults. She leads and collaborates on projects funded by the FRQSC and SSHRC, exploring topics such as substance abuse interventions in prisons, desistance narratives, and community reintegration.

• Teaches courses on drug-criminality, criminological intervention theories, and thesis supervision.
• Co-leads the Centre international de criminologie comparée (CICC), a strategic research hub.
• Supervised at least one master’s thesis: 'Cultiver la liberté: la réintégration par le travail de la terre' by Hugo Lambert (2023).

Her work emphasizes program evaluation in correctional settings and the socio-community integration of justice-involved youth. Current projects include studying informal desistance among young offenders and drug-crime linkages among female adults.
