Cassandra Gooptar

Dr. Cassandra Gooptar is a Lecturer of Legacies of Slavery at the Wilberforce Institute, University of Hull. She is an interdisciplinary researcher specializing in slavery, colonialism, and reparative justice, conducting institutional investigations into Britain's historical ties to enslavement. Her work spans academic and heritage sectors, including roles as lead researcher on the UK Guardian Legacies of Enslavement Project and co-lead of the 'Bristol, Capital & Enslavement' project.

Her research explores links between institutions like universities and colonialism, exemplified by her contribution to the 'Bishop of London, Colonialism and Transatlantic Slavery' project and the University of Dundee Founders Project. She co-founded the Early Career Researcher Network for Slavery Legacies to support emerging scholars in this field.
