Cassandra Bowkett

Dr Cassandra Bowkett is a Lecturer in HRM and Employment Studies at the University of Manchester, affiliated with the Alliance Manchester Business School and the Human Resource Management, Employment Relations and Law Group. She is also a member of the Work and Equalities Institute, contributing to the Work Futures theme.

Education:

• PhD in Human Resource Management (2019), Cardiff University

Research Interests focus on the future of work and skills development in manufacturing industries, particularly through the lens of Industry 4.0 technologies. She explores how collective action and human resource management strategies shape professional skill systems and workplace dynamics in multinational contexts.

Publications highlight her work on algorithmic management, multinational corporations, trade union capabilities, and human-centered AI in aerospace industries. Her research spans cross-national comparisons (UK, Australia, Canada) and institutional experimentation.

Scientific Awards:

• Digit Innovation Fund grant (2022) for research on Industry 4.0 and HRM

She previously worked on a post-doctoral project examining HRM innovations and future skills in the Canadian aerospace sector (2019-2021).
