Research explores Indigenous collaborations with environmentalists, gendered relations, and urban migration in Amazonia. They co-edited 'The Lowland South American World' (2025) and authored two monographs: 'Victims and Warriors' (2015) and 'Translating Worlds, Defending Land' (2025). Their work challenges assumptions about shared purposes in cross-cultural collaborations.
Teaching includes courses on anthropological concepts, Latin American anthropology, and ethnographic methods. They supervise undergraduate, MSc, and PhD students in topics ranging from bilingual education in China to mezcal industry changes in Mexico.
