Casey Dué Hackeny is a Professor and Director of the Program in Classical Studies at the University of Houston, housed within the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences' Modern and Classical Languages department. Her research focuses on Homeric poetry, Greek oral traditions, and textual criticism. She holds a Ph.D. in Classical Philology from Harvard University (2001) and has received prestigious awards including the 2019 Distinguished Faculty Award and multiple teaching accolades. Her work bridges classical scholarship with digital humanities through projects like the Homer Multitext, emphasizing manuscript digitization and collaborative editorial practices. Key contributions include critical editions of Homeric texts, analyses of oral tradition, and interdisciplinary studies on Greek tragedy.
