Casey Clay

Dr. Casey Clay is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Special Education and Rehabilitation Counseling at Utah State University. He holds adjunct positions at the University of California, Irvine and visiting scientist roles at Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC). His academic journey includes a PhD in Disability Disciplines (Applied Behavior Analysis) from Utah State University (2015), an MS in Applied Behavior Analysis from Northeastern University (2011), and a BS in Psychology from Utah State University (2007). Dr. Clay is a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst-Doctoral (BCBA-D) and a Licensed Behavior Analyst in Utah.

**Research Interests:** Dr. Clay focuses on innovative behavioral interventions, including virtual reality training for clinicians, assessment of challenging behaviors, and cultural adaptations in caregiver training. His work integrates technology (e.g., VR simulations) and interdisciplinary approaches (e.g., animal-assisted interventions) to address behavioral challenges in individuals with disabilities. Recent projects include VR-based training for caregivers and preservice clinicians, as well as studies on preference assessments and competing stimuli.

**Publications & Grants:** Dr. Clay has authored/co-authored over 40 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters, including the 7th edition of *Behavior Analysis and Learning*. He has secured grants totaling $656,465, focusing on VR training, autism support services, and interdisciplinary care. Notable awards include the Lee Henson Award for Inclusion (2019) and recognition as a University of Missouri Faculty Scholar (2017-2018).
