Prof. Carsten Ziegert is a Professor of Old Testament at the Theological University of Giessen. His academic roles include serving as a Professor since 2019, Hochschuldozent for Biblical Languages and Translation Theory from 2015 to 2019, and completing his habilitation at the University of Rostock in 2019. He holds a Dr. theol. (2014) from Halle-Wittenberg, an M.A. in Biblical & Theological Studies (2007, University of Gloucestershire), and earlier degrees in Mathematics (2000, University of Hannover).
His research focuses on Old Testament studies, biblical languages, and translation theory. He led Bible translation projects and training in Chad (2009–2015) with Wycliffe/SIL. Prior to theology, he worked in medical informatics as a scientific assistant at Hannover Medical School and the Medical Computing Center (1998–2002).
