Jeremy Lang serves as an Instructor at the Canadian Institute of Linguistics (CanIL), joining the faculty in 2020 to teach LING-483/583 (Language Program Design and Management) and LING-485/585 (Principles of Translation). His career spans over 15 years in Bible translation ministry across Anglophone Africa.
His educational background includes:
- Master of Arts (Translation Studies) from Nairobi Evangelical Graduate School of Theology (Africa International University), Nairobi, Kenya (2009)
- Bachelor of Arts (Biblical Studies, Philosophy) from Geneva College, Beaver Falls, PA, USA (2002)
Lang's research centers on practical theological translation with emphasis on Old Testament work, quality assurance frameworks, and ethical considerations in cross-cultural scripture translation. His approach uniquely integrates translation with discipleship processes, reflecting field experience with mother-tongue language teams in East and West Africa where he developed advisory methodologies for Old Testament projects.
Prior to CanIL, Lang served as a Translation Consultant for Seed Company (Wycliffe affiliate), providing leadership, administration, and workshop-based instruction for indigenous translation teams. His advisory role involved direct mentoring of language communities during Bible translation production, though formal academic student supervision isn't documented.
