معرفی
Carsten Schmitz Peiffer is an Associate Professor at the School of Life and Environmental Sciences, University of Sydney. His research focuses on metabolic diseases, proteomic responses to nutrition, and aging mechanisms. He completed his PhD at Bristol University (UK) on insulin signaling in fat cells and previously worked at the Garvan Institute studying lipid-induced insulin resistance.
**Education:**
- PhD in Insulin Signal Transduction and Fat Cell Metabolism, Bristol University (UK)
- Postdoctoral Research: Garvan Institute (lipid oversupply and insulin action)
**Research Interests:** Investigates how dietary nutrients alter the proteome of metabolically critical tissues like the liver, linking these changes to metabolic disorders and aging. Key topics include β-cell function regulation via macrophage signaling, PKC epsilon's role in glucose homeostasis, and adipose tissue metabolism.
**Grants & Projects:**
- 2022 NHMRC Ideas Grant: Developing PKCepsilon-degrading PROTACs for Type 2 Diabetes treatment
**Labs/Teams:** Collaborates with Professor Stephen Simpson's group at Sydney and previously with Garvan Institute researchers.
