Carrie Miller is an Associate Professor of Environmental Chemistry at Ramapo College of New Jersey’s School of Theoretical and Applied Science (TAS), joining the faculty in 2018. She specializes in mercury biogeochemical cycling, trace metal contaminants, and microplastic research, with a focus on freshwater systems and soil chemistry.
Her research examines how environmental factors like temperature and flow affect mercury dynamics in contaminated streams, the role of microbial communities in mercury transformations, and the geochemical processes governing mercury speciation in industrial sites. Key collaborations include work on mercury isotopes, carbon amendments for bioremediation, and advanced analytical techniques for contaminant mapping.
Recent publications highlight her contributions to understanding mercury methylation, remediation strategies, and environmental transformation mechanisms. Her work appears in journals like Environmental Science & Technology and Water, Air, and Soil Pollution, often addressing industrial contamination and climate impacts on pollutant behavior.
