Christopher C R Allen

Christopher C R Allen is a Professor at the School of Biological Sciences, Queen's University Belfast. He is affiliated with the Institute for Global Food Security and Research Centre in Sustainable Energy, focusing on environmental microbiology and bioremediation. His research spans microbial ecology, bioinformatics, and polyhydroxyalkanoate (PHA) production, with applications in soil contamination, methane hydrate technology, and blue carbon ecosystems.

Allen has received multiple fellowships, including from the Royal Society of Biology (2017), Royal Society of Chemistry (2018), and Geological Society (2018). He leads projects such as INSIGHT (IN Silico Informed metaGenomic Harvesting Technology platform) and KTP/Almac Sciences Ltd collaborations. His recent work involves metagenomic analysis, magnetic field effects on hydrate formation, and biogeochemical sediment studies.
