Carolyn Warner is the Chair and Vail Pittman Professor of Political Science at the University of Nevada, Reno. Previously, she held roles at Arizona State University, including Faculty Head of the School of Politics and Global Studies. Her research focuses on religion and politics, corruption, and institutional malfeasance, with notable projects on clergy child sex abuse in the Catholic Church and sexual assault in the military. She employs mixed-methods approaches combining qualitative and quantitative analyses.

Her research interests include the intersection of religion, culture, and identity, corruption in institutions, and gendered violence. She has authored influential books like The Best System Money Can Buy: Corruption in the European Union (2007) and Generating Generosity in Catholicism and Islam (2018). Her work has been supported by grants from the National Science Foundation, Templeton Foundation, and Henry Luce Foundation.
