Elin Bjarnegård is a Professor of Political Science at Uppsala University, with affiliations at the Department of Peace and Conflict Research and the Swedish Collegium for Advanced Study (SCAS). Her research focuses on comparative politics, gender dynamics in political recruitment, informal institutions, and conflict-related masculinities. She leads a research environment on sexual corruption and participates in the Horizon project MEN4DEM, examining masculinities and democracy.
- Research Themes: Gender and political violence, feminist institutionalism, informal political networks, election violence, gender equality policies, military masculinities, and autocratic gender tactics.
- Projects: Sexual corruption (2025-2030), MEN4DEM (2025-2027), Sexual abuse of power in Tanzania (2022-2025), The Cost of Doing Politics (2020-2025), and feminist foreign policy sustainability.
