Carolyn Stephens

Carolyn Stephens is a Visiting Professor at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine and Full Professor of Environmental Ethics at the University of Primorska in Slovenia. She holds honorary positions at UCL Bartlett Development Planning Unit and has previously held professorships in Argentina and Brazil. Her academic credentials include a BA/MACantab in English Literature (Cambridge University), MSc from LSHTM/LSE, and PhD in Environmental Epidemiology (University of London).

Her interdisciplinary research focuses on environmental justice, health equity, and ethics, with specific interests in:

• Social and structural determinants of health in vulnerable communities
• Urban health systems in low-income settings
• Ethical frameworks for environmental policy
• Climate change impacts on global health equity
• Indigenous health knowledge systems
