Dr. Carolyn Fraker is a faculty member at St. Thomas Aquinas College, where she serves as Interim Director of the Justice Studies Institute and teaches sociology courses including Introduction to Sociology and Law and Society. She employs contemporary examples like pop culture and news events to explore concepts such as capitalism, workers' rights, and systemic inequities.
Her research focuses on critical societal issues, particularly the intersection of poverty, racism, and misogyny. A central theme is healthcare inequality in maternal contexts, exemplified by her work exposing racial disparities in obstetric care. Her scholarship emphasizes structural forces driving social inequities and reproductive justice.
