Sarah A. Williams, PhD, is an Assistant Professor of Anthropology at the University of Connecticut. As an applied medical anthropologist and scholar of global perinatal health, her research examines racialization, medical racism, and obstetric violence in Mexico and Canada. She leads the QueerCOVID-Toronto project, analyzing pandemic impacts on LGBTQ+ health. Williams holds a Ph.D. (2021) from the University of Toronto.
Her research focuses on:
- Medical Anthropology and Reproductive Justice
- Indigenous Health and decolonizing obstetric practices
- Social determinants of Queer and Maternal Health outcomes
Williams co-authored Building a Healthy Lab Culture at the University of Toronto and organizes public engagements like the Traces: Queer Toronto During the Pandemic exhibition. She actively presents on reproductive justice, including post-Roe policy discussions.
