Caroline Ulrich serves as an Adjunct Instructor of Music (Flute) at Furman University and holds a long-term faculty position at the South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities. Her primary affiliation is with the Music department at Furman University.
She earned a Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, a Master of Music from the same institution, and a Bachelor of Music in Performance from Florida State University.
Dr. Ulrich is a renowned orchestral flutist with over two decades as principal flute of the Greenville Symphony Orchestra. She has performed concertos with the orchestra under Maestro Edvard Tchivzel, including works by Lukas Foss, Ibert, and Mozart. Additionally, she performs with the Spartanburg Philharmonic, South Carolina Philharmonic, Asheville Symphony Orchestra, and Rock Hill Philharmonic.
As a chamber musician, she co-founded FLUTE4, a quartet dedicated to performing new works for flute ensemble, and collaborates with pianist Lillian Buss Pearson in recitals. Her professional career combines orchestral performance, pedagogy, and advocacy for contemporary flute repertoire.
