Dr. Caroline Moore is an Honorary Research Associate in the Division of Evolution, Infection and Genomics at the University of Manchester's Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health. With a substantial research output of 62 publications, her work primarily focuses on medical mycology, particularly fungal pathogens and antifungal resistance.
Her research interests span medical mycology, fungal pathogenesis, antifungal resistance mechanisms, and environmental microbiology. Dr. Moore has made significant contributions to understanding Aspergillus and Candida species, azole resistance, and the environmental factors influencing fungal dispersal. Her work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to health and wellbeing.
Dr. Moore's recent publications demonstrate a strong focus on fungal diagnostics, antifungal resistance patterns, and the intersection of environmental factors with clinical mycology. Her research spans laboratory studies of fungal pathogens, clinical diagnostic approaches, and epidemiological investigations of fungal diseases in various patient populations including those with cystic fibrosis and COVID-19.
Her collaborative work includes significant contributions to large-scale research initiatives focused on antifungal resistance and diagnostics for aspergillosis, with impacts spanning health and wellbeing, policy development, and economic considerations in healthcare.
Dr. Moore has contributed to high-impact publications including a review on prostate cancer in The Lancet and multiple studies on fungal pathogens that have received substantial attention in both academic and clinical communities, with some works accumulating hundreds of citations and mentions in policy documents and clinical guidelines.
