معرفی
Caroline Isaksson is a Professor at Lund University, affiliated with the Evolutionary Ecology and Infection Biology department and the BECC (Biodiversity and Ecosystem services in a Changing Climate) profile area. Her research focuses on the intersection of ecology and physiology, particularly how human-induced environmental stressors like pollution and nutrition affect oxidative stress responses in wild vertebrates.
- Key research areas: Urban environmental stress, epigenetics, avian health biomarkers, nutrition/metabolism in birds
- Study species: Great tit (Parus major), zebra finch, and Eurasian kestrel
Recent publications highlight her work on:
- Urban pollution impacts on avian transcriptomics
- Nutritional diversity effects on raptor health
- Metabolome shifts across urban-rural gradients
- Policy recommendations for urban biodiversity
Scientific Awards
- Early Career Investigator Award (2010)
- The Swedish King’s 50th anniversary foundation award (2008)
As principal investigator, she leads projects funded by the Swedish Research Council and Carl Tryggers Stiftelse, with recent work analyzing diet-nutrition-metabolism interplay (2024-2028) and soot toxicity mechanisms (2021-). Supervision includes PhD students Salmon P., Kjellberg Jensen J., and Garcia Dominguez S.
